Storyline
You can choose 4 different Monkey-like creatures with huge
donut-shaped ears to Roll around in balls to collect Dole
Bananas throughout nearly 90 stages. 1-4 Player. Memory Card
Compatible. There isn't really much of a storyline. Nowhere
in the manual or the game itself does it tell why the heck
these monkeys are trapped in the balls
Graphics
The graphics are tremendous. Superb constant 60FPS Framerate
combines with dazzling special effects and the framerate NEVER
drops, even when there are more than 30 rotating bananas on
the screen. The graphics is the strong point of the game.
Gameplay
Terrible. That pretty much sums it up in one word. Me being
a fan of sega, I would've expected better. The only thing
you use is the joystick to guide the monkey throughout 90
repetitive stages by tilting the board left and right. You
become nausiated after less than 5 levels of play. The point
basically is to get from the start of the level to the finish.
Sometimes you get all the way to the end of the level, then
bonk into the goal post and have to do the whole level over
again, which is VERY frustrating. C'mon Sega, you can do better...
Fun Factor
The "Main Game" Mode is really cruddy to say the
least. The fun part is the multiplayer. There are tons of
different mini-games for you and up to 4 friends to play.
Billiards I'd say is probably my favorite. There is also Monkey
Golf, Monkey Race, Monkey Fight, Monkey Target, and Monkey
Bowling.
Overall
A game with huge potential, Nothing ever like this before.
Too bad it couldnt have had more variety in the levels...
The graphics are splendid, they rank up there with even the
high-roller Rogue Leader. I'd only recommend a rental.
