TVGP (Neo_Matrix_87): Well first off I would like to
thank you for taking the time out of your buzy
schedule
ADAM: It's my pleasure.
TVGP (Neo_Matrix_87): Well first of please tell us a
little about yourself
ADAM:
Well, I'm a 22 year old engineering student at Iowa State University.
Sadly, I have lived in Iowa my whole life. Although there are some
advantages - such as almost never having to pay state tax on Internet
purchases...Other than that I'm a pretty normal person - I have
extremely
varied interests in sports, music, anything. My goal in life is to
experience everything I possibly can!
TVGP (Neo_Matrix_87): How did this project come about?
What gave you the idea?
ADAM:
The solution for the GBA's screen problems popped into my head - once
it was
there I couldn't stop until it was actually implemented in real life.
TVGP (Neo_Matrix_87): Have you had any previous
expirence in LCD's,Gameboys,Or other small
electronics?
ADAM:
I have had electronics experience in school, but before June I knew
absolutely nothing about LCDs except for basic consumer knowledge.
TVGP (Neo_Matrix_87): Did you buy the "test dummy" GBA
(Gameboy Advance) or was it donated?
ADAM:
I bought it, but subsequent site donations paid for it.
TVGP (Neo_Matrix_87): I have heard a rumor that
nintendo is funding you, Is this true?
ADAM:
Ha - absolutely not. I have not receieved one word of correspondence
from
Nintendo. Where did you hear that?
TVGP (Neo_Matrix_87): Has nintendo contaced you in any
shape or form?
ADAM:
Above.
TVGP (Neo_Matrix_87): I would imagine that you would
have to ruin at least one GBA while doing this
project, is that right?
ADAM:
You got it - on the first day of testing I was an idiot and cracked the
LCD
screen trying to pry off its metal casing.
TVGP (Neo_Matrix_87): As I understand it you are a
student, how do you find time to do this project?
ADAM:
I have no life right now. Is that what you wanted to hear??! :)
TVGP (Neo_Matrix_87): Do you have any future plans for
this or anyother "homebrew" project of yours
ADAM:
Yes, I do - but I can't elaborate on that just yet. :)
TVGP (Neo_Matrix_87): Have you had a big expense so
far? (Materials etc...)
ADAM:
They are starting to pile up for sure. Up to this point I have spent
around
$500 on supplies. Recently I just purchased a decent soldering station
for
$90 to replace my junky Radio Shack soldering iron.
TVGP (Neo_Matrix_87): Does this gba front side light
mod really make the GBA THAT much better?
ADAM:
Absolutely - it almost makes me cry every time I look at it. It's that
good. The pictures on the site cannot do it justice!
